Two men injured after ceiling collapses at Palmcroft Elementary

Two men working on sections of concrete ceilings at Palmcroft Elementary School on Monday morning were injured when the ceiling collapsed, reported the City of Yuma Fire Department (YFD).

YFD reported the school was not in sessions and only workmen were in the area where the collapse occurred. The two men were treated at the scene and were transported to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

According to the YFD, the ceiling sections were in a breezeway near the areas near the school’s office. Personnel from the City of Yuma’s Building Safety division were called to the scene and were inspecting the damage.

YFD reports the Building Safety personnel are working to determine the extent of the damage and what work needs to be done to safely continue.
