Excessive Heat Warning for Yuma County

An Excessive Heat Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service to take into effect Monday, July 15 at 10 a.m. through Tuesday, July 16 at 8 p.m., in Yuma and Fortuna Foothills. Afternoon temperatures will hit 111 to 115, overnight lows in the mid-80’s.

An excessive heat warning means that a period of very hot temperatures, even by local standards, will occur.

According to NWS, some of the impacts are increasing in heat-related illnesses that include heat cramps, heat exhaustion, headaches, and vomiting.

Being exposed to high temperatures for long periods of time or engaging in vigorous activities in high temperatures can lead to heat exhaustion or heat stroke especially if you are dehydrated.

Heat stroke can be deadly. Treat as an emergency and call 911.
