One dead, one injured after two vehicle-crash in Yuma

One man is dead and the other driver was transported to the hospital after their vehicles collided in Yuma on July 11.

The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office ( YCSO ) responded to the scene of the accident where they reported a white 2014 Ford F-250 pickup was driving eastbound on County 19th Street approaching Avenue 1E.

According to the YCSO , a black 2003 Ford Ranger pick up was traveling at the same time driving northbound on Avenue 1E. The driver, 59-year-old Joel Garcia from Yuma, failed to stop at the stop sign at County 19th Street and proceeded into the path of the Ford F-250.

The driver of the F-250 then struck Garcia’s side of the ranger leaving him with sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene. The driver of the Ford F-250 was transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries reported YCSO .

Next of kin notification has been made and this case is pending further investigation. Alcohol did not appear to be a contributing faction in the collision.
