Complaint against APS closed leaving rate hike still in effect

Arizona utility regulators will not undo the rate hike they approved for Arizona Public Service in 2017.

According to AZ Central, the challenge drew thousands of customer complaints and a petition for reconsideration.

Members of the Arizona Corporation Commission voted 4-1 Wednesday against the request from customers, led by Stacey Champion.

Rather than reverse the rate hike, as a customer and activist Stacey Champion, had asked, Arizona Corporation Commission members said they will address APS rates in a new case they ordered the utility to file by October 31.

Commissioners voted 4-1 on the issue, with Democrat Sandra Kennedy the lone vote against closing the case. The panel did, however, vote to adopt a new code of ethics.
