YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KSWT, FOX 9) - In this week’s Cracking the Case, News 11 digs into a murder that a witness said was sparked by a night of drinking.

The witness, also a victim, said he, the suspect and the man murdered were all drinking in a Yuma home on November 23, 1984.

The witness inside the home added the murder was all over a bottle of whiskey.

The victim of the 1984 murder was Billy Duncan.

Police believe a man, known by the name "Mingo," was the shooter behind the single gunshot wound that took Duncan’s life.

Officers have not been able to find the suspect for 35 years.

"Lots of people knew this guy as Mingo but nobody knew his real name,” explained Sgt. Lori Franklin. “We just were never able to get the real name for the suspect. As far as how to continue to identify him.”

Police said the witness told them "Mingo" kidnapped the third victim.

They added the third man, who has since passed away, was able to jump out of the car and make his way to the police station.

This all happened just a few hours after the shots were fired.

YPD suspects "Mingo" may be from Mexico and went back to Mexico to hide from the police.
