Arson investigation underway in Yuma, $1,000 reward being offered
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY)-Police offer a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest of one of the tenants suspected of lighting a trailer on fire.
The Yuma Police Department says it responded to a trailer fire on the 100 block of W. Rio Colorado Drive on Wednesday at approximately 12:11 a.m.
Police say the Yuma Fire Department was already on scene.
According to the Yuma Fire Department, when it arrived at the scene, it found a 35 foot 5th Wheel RV fully engulfed by fire.Â
Firefighters quickly knocked down before it could spread to other units in the park. After the fire was extinguished, investigations revealed the fire appeared to have been intentionally started.Â
YPD says no occupants were inside the RV while it was burning, but one person was treated and transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center for further evaluation of minor injuries.Â
Due to the severe damage the RV is considered a total loss.
Police say this incident appears to be an isolated incident, as one of the tenants is the suspect in this case.Â
The suspect is still outstanding.Â
Police continue to investigate.
