Less than 50 new cases of coronavirus in Imperial County

Health officials report 3 more deaths

EL CENTRO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - Imperial County saw another light day for new cases of coronavirus Friday. Health officials only added 48 patients to the list of those infected. Still, the countywide total edged closer to the 9,000 mark.

The Imperial County Public Health Department (ICPHD) also reported three more deaths from the illness, raising the number of lives lost to 173.

Since the start of the pandemic, more than 431,000 Californians have tested positive for the virus. The illness is blamed for more than 8,200 deaths.
