Sen. Ben Hueso

Teleconference provides guidance on available programs

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - State Senator Ben Hueso (D-40th District) hosted a discussion Wednesday morning on the state of unemployment benefits in California.

The coronavirus pandemic forced nearly 5-million Californians to apply for benefits. Experts predict the state's jobless rate could peak at nearly 25%. The Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation program launched last week and will allow certain Californians who have maxed out unemployment benefits to receive additional money.

Sen. Hueso hosted the discussion to inform constituents on available assistance and programs.
