Arizona schools to re-open in the fall
Governor Doug Ducey also opens door for youth sports and summer day camps
PHOENIX, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Arizona Governor Doug Ducey says schools will re-open in the fall following a spring semester cut short by coronavirus.
Ducey also announced Thursday, Little League, and other youth sports, as well as summer day camps, can resume operations now.
The governor said state schools chief Kathy Hoffman will offer up an outline next week for how schools should operate. He warned it won't be a complete return to normalcy.
Ducey's announcement comes as the state sees an uptick in the metrics used to track the illness' progress. Both the number of positive test results, and the number of emergency room visits continues to rise across the state. Yuma saw it's highest single-day spike in cases on Thursday with 98 additional positive patients.
