Yuma County coronavirus cases surpass 900
County sees highest one-day spike to date
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The number of coronavirus cases in Yuma County climbed passed 900 Thursday as the county once again set a new record for the highest one-day spike.
The Yuma County Health District (YCHD) confirms another 98 cases, bringing the countywide total to 936. That's the most new cases reported in a single day since the start of the pandemic. On May 22, health officials reported a 96 case spike.
Health officials also reported another death on Thursday. The countywide death toll now stands at 13.
Patients between the ages of 20 and 44 continue to make up the majority of Yuma County's cases. That age group grew by an additional 52 people on Thursday. It accounts for 45% of Yuma's cases.

Arizona currently has nearly 18,000 cases of coronavirus. The illness is blamed for 857 deaths across the state, including 14 in Yuma County.
