Yuma County sees spike of 60 new cases

County reports one additional death

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The Yuma County Health District (YCHD) confirms 60 new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) Monday, bringing the countywide total to 730.

This total includes 58 inmates from the Yuma Prison Complex.

Health officials also report one additional death for Monday, bringing the countywide death toll to 11.

Currently the county shows an unknown number of hospitalizations, however Sunday's numbers displayed 45 hospitalizations. The Yuma Regional Medical Center reports at least 21 patients are in the ICU.

Yuma County officials are not releasing any information on newest patients, nor are they providing details on the newest death.

The latest statistics show that at 42 percent, the 20 to 44 age group continues to make-up the bulk of cases. The critical 65+category has increased by five in a day, with the total now at 120.

The latest report shows progress in terms of testing, with over 7,500 Yuma residents now screened.

Arizona currently has more than 16,561 cases of coronavirus. The illness is blamed for 806 deaths across the state, including 10 in Yuma County.
