Gas stations cited for using raking devices

Officials ask consumers to look out for possible fraud

MEXICALI, Baja California. (KYMA, KSWT, KSWT)-As if consumers didn’t have enough to worry about when filling up, a new trend has emerged.

According to PROFECO a government consumer watch group, four gas stations in Mexicali have been cited for using raking devices.

 The devices manipulate the gas pumps fuel release which in turn means what’s on the meter isn’t what’s going into your tank.

Officials warn consumers to always look for the government seal which is placed over the pump's computer when they are checked.

They also encourage consumers to report any suspicious activity at gas pumps.
