Local law office offering drive-thru services

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Drive-thru services are pretty common now-a-days but now one local law firm is also offering contact free service to their clients.

Deason Garner and Hansen, a law firm, primarily working with estate planning like living trusts and wills. You may not have ever thought about a drive-thru attorneys office … but now this law office is using this old bank drive-thru to take care of legal business.

Rachel Douglas has been a client of Deason Garner and Hansen for 30+ years.

“This is different, it is interesting. Luckily, they have this option because normally you would have to go in and sign,” she says.

“Its not the most comfortable thing but it works under the circumstances," Douglas added.

Shawn Garner, a partner of the law firm, says almost every responsibility that needs attention, can be taken care of using the drive thru.

“The drive-through has been fantastic because we have three lanes and we have enough people that were helping get the estate plan set up that we’ve been able to use all three lanes and pass their documents to them through the door or through the tubes," he said.

"We can witness him sign while they’re in their air-conditioned car and we can have witnesses standing at the window. They pass the documents pass it back through the tubes or drawer. We can notarize them and sign the witnesses names on them," Garner continues on.

They want their clients to feel comfortable, while still maintaining full communication during these tough times, when their affairs should be in order.

“One of the bigger complaints attorneys get, in general, is that they aren’t personal and they don’t there’s not enough face to face contact; so we strive to overcome that complex that attorneys share and to give our clients as much personal attention as we can and as they need,” Garner points out.

As for, a rise in people coming in to take care of estate planning - Garner said the numbers have remained about the same, since before the pandemic.
