Surprise couple accused of shocking abuse

Adoptive children tell of beatings and starvation

SURPRISE, Ariz. (KYMA, KSWT, KECY) - A couple from Surprise faces multiple charges of child abuse. Their adoptive children all accuse them of beatings, suffocation, starvation, and worse.

Azfamily.com reports U.S. Marshals took Tammie Lyn and Lee Steven Brady into custody on November 19th.

The Bradys have six children, all of them adopted. Investigators say the children all detailed incidents of abuse.

Their 12-year-old daughter suffers from Spina Bifida and is wheelchair bound. She police her mother "was doing a lot of bad things to her." She told officers her mother would choke her, "beat her with a belt," and zip tie her hands.

She also claims her mom would often leave her outside and force her to go for days without food. In addition, she told police her mother would make her ride naked in the trunk of the family car because she often "has accidents and wets her pants every day."

Her nine-year-old adoptive brother had his own horror stories. He claims his parents also zip tied his hands and feet. He told police they would lock him in the family's trailer naked. The little boy also details incidents of starvation.

The four other children in the home corroborate both their siblings' stories. They also shared details on personal beatings.

Their father, Lee Brady, denies any knowledge of the abuse of which he's accused. Tammy Brady also denies the childrens' accusations.

However, the children were removed from their adoptive parents in early October after a witness at Yellowstone National Park reported seeing them abused.

The couple's currently being held on $30-thousand bail each. If released, they cannot have any contact with their children. They'll also have to wear electronic monitoring devices.
