Yuma Sector canine team stops drug smuggling attempt
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Yuma Sector Border Patrol says one of its canine sniffed-out more than $300,000 worth of narcotics Friday afternoon.
Agents say it happened at the Interstate 8 Immigration Checkpoint east of Yuma.
They say a drug-sniffing dog alerted them to a problem with a Ford F-150 truck. Wellton Station agents conducted a secondary inspection of the truck.
That's when they say they found more than 164 pounds of methamphetamine and about three pounds of fentanyl.

Agents say the drugs were hidden throughout the truck. They say they located bundles in the spare tire, gas tank, and both front fenders.
The Border Patrol says the seized meth and fentanyl have an estimated street value of $319,000.
Agents say they arrested the driver, a 60-year-old female United States citizen from Yuma, on drug smuggling charges. They also seized the narcotics and the vehicle.
