Hawks football looking for quarterfinal upset

TUCSON, Ariz. (KSWT, KYMA) The Gila Ridge Hawks are breaking records, making history and pulling off upsets all season long.

On the eve of playoffs, our cameras stopped by the Hawks football practice.

First-year head coach Jae Ellegood said his kids are confidently prepared to take on the Sahuaro football team who is currently the number one seed in the league.  The Hawks are going into the competition as the number nine seed and are looking to pull another upset.

Last Friday against Coconino in Flagstaff, the Hawks won the first playoff football game since 1965 for the Yuma Union High School District.

As they face Sahuaro tonight, they hope to ink in another win and go down in the history books.
