Sunset Health implements its Emergency Preparedness Plan

Facilities make plans to coordinate with Yuma County and YRMC

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Sunset Health announced Tuesday it has implemented its Emergency Preparedness Plan and Committee to better meet the needs of the communities it serves.

In a statement released Tuesday afternoon Sunset writes:

"We will work alongside YRMC, the Health Department, Community Leaders and other medical providers in the days and weeks ahead to make sure our residents are educated, testing is made available, clinics are assessable, information is available, and patients who need to see a provider can get in."

Sunset management goes on to say it supports the Declaration of Unity issued by the mayors of San Luis, Somerton, and Yuma this weekend.

The announcement means Sunset will modify its primary mission to assist county health and hospital officials in any and all aspects of dealing with the coronovirus pandemic. It will make these cases a priority, while asking patients with non-critical health concerns to exercise patient.

Sunset has also ramped up precautionary protocols at all five of its main locations. It's also expanded efforts to educate the public about the steps they can take to prevent the spread of the virus:

  • Wash your hands regularly
  • Cover your mouth and nose when sneezing or coughing
  • Practice social distancing
  • If you do not have to go out - stay home!

Sunset says it will work closely with its state and federal partners to ensure its does all it can to protect the people of Yuma County.
