Supervisor Peggy Price delivers State of The County address

IMPERIAL, Calif. (KYMA) - Imperial County Board of Supervisors Chairwoman Peggy Price delivered the State of The County address from the IV Fairgrounds Thursday.

Supervisor Price began by recognizing several dignitaries in the audience, including newly promoted Imperial County Chief Public Defender Daniel Rosenberg, District Attorney George Marquez, and her fellow board members.

She highlighted the work of law enforcement and first responders.

"Our sheriff's office also introduced a mobile application to improve public access to emergency safety notifications and resources. And our fire department and Office of Emergency Services, who remain critical partners," Price said.

The chairwoman touted achievements in public health and behavioral health.

"We also expanded public health mobile units to deliver screenings and immunizations directly to Seely and other rural pockets of our county," Price said.

"We launched care court program, connecting residents with severe mental illness directly to treatment, housing, and long-term stability," she added.

For residents watching, the question isn't only what the county accomplished, it's also what remains unfinished.

Price did not address the topics of the proposed data center and county lawsuits or the delayed fixing of Picacho Road Bridge.

At the end of her speech, Price showed a video of local veteran who has made a difference in the community by continuing to give back.

Augustin Saldana was honored with the "Veteran of the Year" award.
