Alligator waddles into bagel shop in North Carolina

SOUTHPORT, N.C. (CBS, KYMA) - A very unusual visitor waddled into a bagel shop in Southport, North Carolina on October 29, giving the owner a fright.

Security video from Bagel Dock Express shows an alligator walking in through the back door, then the kitchen and eventually into the main shop, startling the owner, Jesse Driscoll.

"It's just so far out of the ordinary for a bagel shop," Driscoll told local reporters.

"You can see lots of things. People coming in. Friends coming in to say hi. But, never in a million years did I think I'd see an alligator," he added.

Bagel Dock Express was closed at the time, according to local media.

"Apparently, word of our fresh bagels has made its way into the swamp," the shop said on social media. "Our surprise visitor was safely escorted out by local law enforcement. No injuries, no drama…just one VERY unusual customer!"
