Artist in Denmark does pumpkin carving with a chainsaw

COPENHAGEN, Denmark (CBS, KYMA) - A chainsaw-wielding artist is carving spooky faces into giant pumpkins.

Danish sculptor Søren Brynjolf traded in kitchen knives for a chainsaw as he chiseled scary faces into plus-size pumpkins in front of crowds at Copenhagen's Tivoli Gardens.

He uses other tools to hollow out the fine features on figures like witches, cyclopses, and other monsters.

Brynjolf said he first sketches out his ideas at home before bringing them to life on the spot.

"You just move and then it is like butter. But then, you have to hold your tools because if you don't hold back, you'll just whoop. So, actually it's quite hard because you really need to control your movements a lot," Brynjolf said.

The orange canvases were taken from the amusement park's recent giant pumpkin contest, the largest one weighing over 2,600 pounds.

The pumpkin masterpieces will be donated to the Copenhagen zoo after halloween as a special edible treat for the elephants.
