Four injured by lightning strike near school drop off in El Mirage, Arizona

EL MIRAGE, Ariz. (NBC, KYMA) - Four adults were injured when lightning struck near a school bus drop-off area Friday morning.

The four were not struck directly but were in the vicinity of a lightning strike. Firefighters say they were all alert when they were taken to the hospital for minor injuries.

One woman who said she was holding an umbrella at the time of the strike was treated for arm pain.

One neighbor said he was thankful no one was seriously hurt and calls it more than a matter of luck.

"Could be divine intervention, is what I'd prefer versus luck. Yeah. Could be a little of both so, I'm just glad nobody was seriously hurt.

"Uh, yeah, we have a lot of activity here every single day. I'm kind of surprised families were still dropping off kids this morning as bad as it was."

No students were hurt. Storms are expected in the area all weekend.
