CAUGHT ON CAMERA: Deer crashes through apartment window

APPLETON, Wis. (CBS, KYMA) - Appleton, Wisconsin police recently responded to a call about a deer that had entered an apartment. After they got there, the deer came crashing through a window and ran away.

The recent call provided a good reminder that deer are on the move this time of year.

No one was home at the time, and the deer later exited through another window and left the area, appearing to be uninjured.

Officers made contact with the landlord and resident, who were able to address the broken windows and ensure there were no other issues inside the apartment.

While a deer entering an apartment is certainly unusual, increased deer movement this time of year is not.

Wisconsin DNR identified October and November as the months when most deer-vehicle collisions occur, as deer become more active during the fall breeding season. Deer are also most active around dawn and dusk.

Drivers should slow down, remain alert and scan the roadsides for deer, particularly during the morning and evening hours.
