Wednesday is National Apple Day

(CNN, KYMA) - Wednesday, October 21, is National Apple Day.

There are more than 7,000 recognized apple varieties. Common varieties include Red Delicious, Gala, Fuji, Granny Smith and Honeycrisp.

People can celebrate the day by going to pick an apple, go to an apple tasting or orchard tour, or buy apple product such as cider, pies, jams or chutneys from a farmers market.

People can also plant an apple tree, share a recipe involving apples, and post to the #NationalAppleDay.
