CNN demands White House to restore access to Air Force One and Oval Office

WASHINGTON (NBC, KYMA) - CNN is threatening further legal action if the White House does not restore its access to Air Force One and the Oval Office.

This is according to a letter obtained by NBC News, written by attorney Ted Boutrous to the Department of Justice and White House counsel Will Scharf.

Boutrous said CNN was barred from "fully performing" it duties as the designated pooler no fewer than four times to date, and was provided no written notice or explanation of their denied access to the White House.

Attorneys for the network say that it is their desire" to reach a resolution outside of the judicial process… But that CNN will return to court if access issues persist.

In response to the letter, a White House official told NBC News, "No person and no journalist has a constitutional right to access to the president's Oval Office, Air Force One, or other sensitive and private facilities."

This comes a week after U.S. District Judge Timothy Kelly ordered the White House to restore press access for three news organizations, including CNN, previously barred by President Donald Trump.
