New NBC News poll shows low approval rating and growing economic concerns

(NBC, KYMA) - A new NBC News Decision Desk poll released Sunday shows Americans are deeply unhappy with the direction of the country, with little more than two weeks before the midterms.

The survey found 71% of adults think the United States is on the wrong track. That's the highest its been during President Donald Trump's second term.

His approval rating is slipping, as well, with only 34% of those polled approve of his job performance, which is another second-term low. 66% disapprove.

More than half of the adults polled said President Trump's policies are hurting the country, while 28% said they're helping.

Another 14% said the Trump Administration's policies aren't making a difference.

The cost of living continues to be the most important issue to Americans right now, and 67% of respondents say the price of gas, on the rise because of the Iran war, has been either a "very" or "somewhat serious" problem for them.

Only 8% said the cost of gas hasn't been a problem at all.

That affordability factor may cost Republicans in November as the survey found 55% of registered voters want Democrats to Control congress after the midterms. That's a ten-point lead over Republicans.
