Navi Pillay wins Nobel Peace Prize

(CNN, KYMA) - Navi Pillay is this year's Nobel Peace Prize winner for her contributions to international law.

She's a judge on the International Criminal Court (ICC), who used to be an anti-apartheid lawyer in South Africa.

The Norwegian Nobel Committee said, in its Friday announcement, she demonstrates "courage and integrity."

The Trump Administration is trying to dismantle the court Pillay serves on.

It said the ICC shouldn't be able to investigate and prosecute people whose countries don't recognize its jurisdiction.

Were that the case, the court wouldn't be able to target americans it suspects of wrongdoing.
