U.S. Navy and Marine Corps hosts open house for free water testing

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - The U.S. Navy and Marine Corps are offering free water testing for water wells near MCAS Yuma.

An open house is happening Tuesday at the Yuma Civic Center from 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.

During the open house, The Navy and Marine Corps will explain plans to test some private wells for "PFAS," sometimes called "Forever chemicals," that may be in nearby wells because of past use of firefighting foam on the base.

Representatives from the military will be there to answer questions.

Testing is planned for September 30 through October 7, and will be free for property owners.
