Cleanup underway in NYC after intense storms hit the area

NEW YORK (NBC, KYMA) - Strong wind and heavy rain whipped across New York City Sunday, flooding roads and homes, knocking down trees and leaving cleanup underway as floodwaters begin to recede.

Winds are winding down in the area from this weekend's Nor'easter, but the city is not done with the rain just yet.

An additional one-to-two inches of rain could fall through Monday, on top of the one-to-four inches dropped on the Tri-State since Friday.

The FAA issued ground stops at Newark, LaGuardia and JFK airports as rain and wind continued.

In Queens, wind brought down trees and power lines. Debris was seen blocking roads.

On Staten Island, cars were left stalled in the Bulls Head neighborhood as floodwaters swamped some streets.

Several roads were blocked off with water still pooling in low-lying areas.
