Two dead in helicopter crash while battling Dome Fire in California

MARIPOSA COUNTY, Calif. (NBC, KYMA) - Two members of a helicopter crew battling the Dome Fire in Yosemite National Park were killed in a crash Sunday, the U.S Forest Service said.

The Eurocopter AS32 helicopter went down as the pilots were conducting fire suppression operations at the Dome Fire.

The pilots were the only people on board, and aviation company Fly Precision said they were members of their team.

Both the NTSB and FAA are investigating the crash.

Meanwhile, the Dome Fire has grown to 3,420 acres and was 15% contained as of Monday night.

No evacuation orders are in place and the cause of the blaze is under investigation.
