IV Entertainment Convention returns to Imperial Valley
IMPERIAL, Calif. (KYMA) - The Imperial Valley Entertainment Convention is back, but this year, it's moving to a new location.
The convention is set to take place Saturday, Sept. 26, from noon to 7 p.m. at the Cambria Hotel in Imperial.
Several fan favorites are returning this year, including Dave Rivas, who voices Joey Drew and Sean Crisden, who voices the Ink Demon in Bendy and the Dark Revival. Rivas is also known for his work as Captain Va'Kel Shon in Star Trek Online.
Janeshia Adams-Ginyard, fresh off an appearance at San Diego Comic-Con, will also be on site signing autographs. Adams-Ginyard is an accomplished stuntwoman and actress known for her work in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and for voicing the "female Cartman" in South Park: Joining the Panderverse.
"I'm just so happy that they have me back, but what really sparked my interest in returning was the people," Adams-Ginyard said in an interview with News 11.
"They showed me so much support, whether it's from Black Panther movies or from South Park movies or from my wrestling," she added.
For Adams-Ginyard, the convention is an opportunity to meet fans and make new connections.
"I never ask anyone to buy anything. I am there solely to talk to you. If you happen to buy something, cool, fine, and dandy. But I am really there to socialize and talk and meet people. Because I know that I'm operating in my purpose and my passion," she explained.
Adams-Ginyard, the first woman to be nominated for an Emmy for her stunt work, said she is excited that this year the Academy Awards has added a new category for "Acievement in Stunt Design."
"It's just an honor to see that it's being recognized across all different award platforms. It's cool because stunts are a very big component of the industry. Because let's be honest, if you have an action movie and there's no stunts, you don't have an action movie," Adams-Ginyard said.
Other artists slated to appear are Ginny Holtzman, the voice of Peppermint Patty in the "Peanuts" cartoons, and Madison Brunoehler, the voice of Happy Frog in "Five Nights at Freddy's."
For wrestling fans, former WWF star Chavo Guerrero Jr. and WWE Hall of Famer Rikishi are scheduled to appear.
