Navy and Marine Corps to host open house for free water testing

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - The U.S. Navy and Marine Corps are offering free water testing for water wells near MCAS Yuma.

The open house is taking place Tuesday, September 29, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Yuma Civic Center.

During the open house, the Navy and Marine Corps will explain plans to test some private wells for PFAS, sometimes called "forever chemicals," that may be in nearby wells because of past use of firefighting foam on the base.

Representatives from the military will be there to answer questions.

Testing is planned from Wednesday, September 30, through Wednesday, October 7, and will be free for property owners.
