Apartment complex under construction caught fire in Indiana

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (NBC, KYMA) - A massive fire broke out early Tuesday in South Bend, Indiana at an apartment complex under construction.

The pictures, taken by the South Bend Police Department, show heavy smoke and flames pouring from the fire overnight.

Firefighters arrived to find the complex completely engulfed in heavy flames, but managed to get the fire under control.

According to the fire chief, the wood construction of the complex helped the fire spread quickly.

There were no reports of injuries however neighboring apartments sustained some damage and residents were forced to evacuate.

Officials are working to determine the cause of the fire.
