Tracking an extreme heat warning going back into effect on Tuesday for the Desert Southwest
Extreme heat is making a return. I am tracking heat and humidity for the days ahead. An extreme heat warning has been issued for this week. I am also issuing a Weather Authority First Alert Action Day starting Tuesday.
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - Happy Monday and Happy Labor Day! It is a little warmer than what we felt over the weekend, but we are only trending a few degrees above average today.
For the rest of our Labor Day, we are in for a pleasant and calm evening. It will be a little humid, but don't let that stop you from being outside. Enjoy!

I am tracking the return of extreme heat. An Extreme Heat Warning is issued for the Desert Southwest this week. This will go into effect at 10 a.m. Tuesday until 8 p.m. Thursday for Yuma. This will stay in effect a little longer for Imperial Valley and will expire at 8 p.m. Friday.
Highs will be between 106-112 degrees with overnight lows in the low 80s and low 90s. It is also going to be humid making it feel even hotter. Our "feels like" temperatures will be between 105-118 degrees.
We have major heat risk and little to no relief from this heat, so it is important to practice heat safety all hours of the day.
Checking on the tropics, Marie has weakened back into a tropical storm and will continue to weaken in the days ahead while moving northward.
Not tracking any major impacts for the area, mainly will bring higher waves along the coast of California.
However, I am tracking south easterly flow that may bring in some moisture. Tracking some clouds, humidity, and a chance for light showers and sprinkles.
By the middle of the week we may see some light showers and sprinkles moving through the area overnight and into the morning hours. Not everyone will see rain, and those that do it will be very light.
I am tracking heat and humidity this week. Temperatures, won't be the hottest temperatures that we have seen this year, but the humidity will make it feel even hotter bringing in high UV Index levels.
That is why I am issuing Weather Authority First Alert Action Days starting at 10 a.m. Tuesday for the entire Desert Southwest due to the heat and high humidity. Stay cool and hydrated.
We are in for cooler temperatures by the weekend and will get a break from the extreme heat.
