Karoline Leavitt says Thursday was final day as White House Press Secretary

(CNN, KYMA) - White house Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt announced that Thursday is her final day in the job.

Leavitt has served in the role since the start of President Donald Trump's second term in January of last year.

At age 29, she was the youngest-ever Press Secretary.

In a final press gaggle with reporters at the White House, Leavitt told the group she'd miss working with them. She also said it had "been an honor" speaking on the president's behalf.

Leavitt previously announced she was stepping down to spend more time with her family, which added a second child, with her daughter born in May.

President Trump earlier said Leavitt would still serve his administration as a top outside adviser.
