28 children suffer minor injuries after a school bus overturned in Kentucky

BULLITT COUNTY, Ky. (NBC, KYMA) - Dozens of elementary students are recovering after their school bus overturned Monday afternoon in Bullitt County, Kentucky.

According to the school district, 28 children, from Lebanon Junction Elementary, suffered minor injuries.

The crash happened just before 5 p.m. Eastern.

The Bullitt County Superintendent says the bus driver and eight students were taken to the hospital by ambulance while parents took other students to the hospital on their own.

First responders from Bullitt County where joined by emergency officials from both Jefferson and Nelson counties.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
