Former SLHS teacher accused of sexually abusing underage student pleads not guilty

YUMA COUNTY, Ariz. (KYMA) - The former San Luis High School (SLHS) teacher accused of sexually abusing an underage student pleaded not guilty during a court appearance Monday.

Genesis Alvarado, 27, is facing two felony charges, including sexual misconduct with a minor.

Alvarado, who was a digital photography teacher at SLHS, was taken into custody earlier this month, and the San Luis Police Department (SLPD) said the investigation involved a 17-year-old student.

SLPD also believes there's multiple victims.

Alvarado, who is out on bail, will be back in court September 18 for a case management hearing.
