House Ethics Committee investigates allegations against Rep. Jimmy Gomez

WASHINGTON (NBC, KYMA) - Another House member is being investigated by the House Ethics Committee.

Rep. Jimmy Gomez (D-Calif.) is the latest House member facing an investigation by the committee.

Rep. Gomez admitted making personal mistakes outside his marriage, but said his actions were consensual and did not violate the law or House Ethics rules.

The committee is examining whether Gomez violated the code of official conduct and had inappropriate sexual contact with a house staffer.

Unidentified sources told the New York Post that Gomez kissed a younger staffer in 2023.

Gomez is among several House members recently investigated by the committee, with the others being former Reps. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) and Tony Gonzales (R-Texas).

Former Reps. Swalwell and Gonzales resigned from Congress earlier this year.
