Texas gunman opens fire on vehicles before exchanging gunfire with Houston Police

HOUSTON, TX. (NBC, KYMA) - Three people were injured when a gunman opened fire on multiple vehicles in northeast Houston Friday morning.

Authorities say the shooting happened just after 11 a.m. across the street from a chicken restaurant.

They say a male was shooting at passing vehicles with an automatic weapon and struck at least three vehicles.

When police arrived at the scene they exchanged gunfire with the suspect sending him to the hospital for treatment for multiple gunshot wounds.

They say the suspect injured a mother and daughter inside one vehicle.

A second car was struck, also injuring a passenger.

The third vehicle was fired upon, but no one inside was hit.

Police say all three victims are in stable condition.
