Tracking tropical conditions along with extreme heat

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - It's been over two weeks with extreme heat across our region and we're tracking that to continue throughout the weekend.

We have seen no relief from the heat, and on top of that, tropical humidity has worked it's way into the region. Making conditions feel even more unbearable.

Both Yuma and Imperial Counties will be above 110°F on Saturday. Yuma is expected to reach a high of 115°F while El Centro is expected to hit 117°F. Along with dew points ranging from 60-75 degrees.

Into Sunday, Yuma's high temperature should reach 110°F. El Centro is tracking a couple degrees warmer at 112°F.

With the added moisture in the air, I'm tracking a good chance for thunderstorms and some showers this weekend and into the work week.

Saturday night around 11 p.m., I'm tracking a chance for some scattered showers in Yuma County. By early Sunday morning around 5 to 6 a.m., San Luis, Mexicali and El Centro should see some precipitation in the early morning.

Sunday is tracking pretty clear for the time being. By Monday morning around 9 a.m., those clouds and light scattered showers should return to our region.

Weekend winds are tracking to be calm for the most part. As usual, we should see some gusts in the 20-25 miles per hour range across the region for brief spurts. Sunday night is tracking to see those gusts more consistently.

As always, be mindful of those heat safety tips during this extreme heat. The Extreme Heat Warnings are tracking to end Sunday night around 8 p.m., baring any additional extensions.
