Beck named starter for Hall of Fame Game

KYMA

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - The NFL season is drawing closer, and the Arizona Cardinals are set to take the field for the first time in 2026 as the league's preseason officially gets underway.

The Cardinals will face the Carolina Panthers in the Pro Football Hall of Fame Game on Thursday night in Canton, Ohio, marking the start of the NFL preseason schedule. While many established veterans are expected to sit out the game, it presents an opportunity for players on the roster bubble to make an impression as they compete for spots on the team's final 53-man roster.

One of the most notable storylines entering the matchup is the expected debut of rookie quarterback Carson Beck, who has been named Arizona's starter for the game. The former Georgia and Miami standout will receive an early opportunity to showcase his abilities against NFL competition as he begins his professional career.

The 24-year-old was drafted 65th overall in the third round after leading the Miami Hurricanes to the national championship.

Kickoff between the Cardinals and Panthers is scheduled for 5 p.m. on Thursday.
