Yuma County opens South Transfer Station

YUMA COUNTY, Ariz. (KYMA) - Yuma County officially opened its new South Transfer Station Wednesday morning with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The station is located on County 19th Street to Avenue B, southeast of Somerton.

The facility will provide residents with a free and convenient place to dispose of household solid waste, and will be open to the public Thursday.

It will operate from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. every Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

"It's gonna clean up the environment, unconditionally it's gonna help with a legal dumping in areas where really needed and also is free for the residents," said Michael Herrera, Superintendent for Waste Management.

Yuma County said the site is for residential use only, and they will not accept commercial waste.
