Friday marks National Avocado Day

Unsplash

(CNN, KYMA) - Friday, July 31 is National Avocado Day.

Technically a fruit, not a vegetable, avocados have plenty to offer besides taste: Healthy omega three fatty acids, Vitamins C, E, and K, and Potassium, and it has more fiber and protein than any other fruit.

Mark the day by enjoying an avocado by itself, some chips and guacamole, or be a hipster and have avocado toast for brunch!

Some fun facts: There are more than a thousand varieties of avocados, and not only are avocados actually a fruit, but more specifically, they're considered a berry.

You can post your recipes or photos using the hashtag national avocado day.
