Somerton tabs Hailey Johnson as new Athletic Director

SOMERTON, Ariz. (KYMA) - Somerton High School has named Haley Johnson as its new athletic director, turning to a familiar face with years of coaching and administrative experience to lead the Toros' athletic programs.

Johnson began her career in education during the 2019-20 school year at Yuma Lutheran School, where she taught and coached. She later served as the school's assistant athletic director before spending the past five years as assistant athletic director at Kofa High School.

Now, Johnson brings that experience to Somerton as she takes over the athletic department following the departure of David Barrios.

Johnson will look to build on the foundation established by Barrios, who helped oversee the growth of the Toros' athletic programs during the school's first three years.

Barrios has transitioned into a new role at Somerton High School after being promoted to academic principal.
