FIRST ALERT ACTION DAY: Tracking ongoing heat and humidity this week

A Weather Authority First Alert Action Day is staying in effect through Sunday due to the hot and humid weather. Tracking even hotter temperatures to return later this week and into the weekend. Stay cool and hydrated.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY-TV) - An Extreme Heat Warning has been EXTENDED once again until 8 p.m. Sunday for parts of the Desert Southwest due to major and extreme heat risks.

Highs will be between 110-121 degrees, and overnight lows between 84-93 degrees.

A Weather Authority First Alert Action Day is still in effect until 8 pm Sunday due to the hot and humid weather conditions for the next several days.

This evening will be very toasty along with dew points staying in the 60s. Remember to still practice heat safety during the evening and nighttime hours as we will have little to no relief from this heat.

A ridge of high pressure will be keeping the Desert Southwest hot with above-normal temperatures and also high humidity.

This ridge will strengthen back during the week, bringing back intense heat later this week where highs could reach the 120 mark.

Temperatures will stay hot all week long. A Weather Authority First Alert Action Day is in effect until 8 pm Sunday for the Desert Southwest for the prolonged heat wave.

Tracking more brutal heat to return later this week and into the weekend with highs nearing or reaching 120. Also watching for any record breaking temperatures.

It's going to be a very hot start to August.
