The International Space Station changes command

(NBC, KYMA) - The International Space Station changed commanders today as three expedition 74 crew members prepare to return to earth on Sunday.

Roscosmos cosmonaut Sergey Kud-Sverchkov formally handed command of the station to NASA astronaut Jessica Meir during a change of command ceremony.

Meir will lead the seven-member crew through the end of the summer.

Kud-sverchkov, NASA astronaut Chris Williams, and Roscosmos cosmonaut Sergei Mikaev are scheduled to undock from the Rassvet module at 3:03 a.m. Sunday and land in Kazakhstan at 6:25 a.m.

The remaining crew will continue conducting microgravity research and preparing equipment for upcoming spacewalks.
