Police officer in Colorado saves skunk from ‘trash helmet’

PARKER, Colo. (NBC, KYMA) - A kindly, and brave, police officer in a Denver suburb got uncomfortably close to a skunk with its head stuck in a paper takeout cup in order to help the critter, footage from late spring shows.

Bodycam footage from the Parker Police Department showed the officer first attempting to remove the trash from the skunk's head using a long tool, then electing to use their hands after that had failed.

"I have to just reach down and grab it," the officer says before freeing the skunk from its trash helmet. "You're free...Goodbye!"

The skunk then bounded off into the darkness, happily without spraying the officer.
