Two injured after incendiary device was deployed outside Federal Plaza in New York

NEW YORK (NBC, KYMA) - FBI Director Kash Patel and law enforcement sources say an incendiary device was deployed outside Federal Plaza in New York City Monday, injuring two people.

In a post on social media, Director Patel said a suspect is in custody, and said both injuries are believed to be minor.

NBC station WNBC reports the suspect is a possible "anti-ICE" activist and may have some emotional issues.

The station quotes law enforcement sources who say the suspect wheeled a cart of fireworks and flammable liquids to the scene and ignited it.

Sources say the New York Police Department's Bomb Squad was checking out the cart as a precaution.

New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani posted a statement on social media, calling the incident "deeply disturbing."
