CAUGHT ON CAMERA: Semi-trailer in Texas swept off road

UVALDE, Texas (CBS, KYMA) - A semi-trailer was swept into floodwaters, as south central Texas was hit with severe rainfall and flash flooding Tuesday, with some parts experiencing up to 12 inches of accumulation.

Footage captured by Meteorologist Eric Graves in Uvalde shows the truck almost completely submerged in the raging waters.

"Took me a while to realize this was a full blown 18 wheeler that had been swept away on Hwy 83 north of Uvalde, TX," he wrote in a Facebook post. "This water moves scary fast in the Hill Country."

In an updated Facebook post, Graves said, "The daughter confirmed he made it out alive!"

The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a flash flood warning for the area, as rapid rainfall rates of two to four inches per hour.

"This is a dangerous situation since some of these areas have gotten between 2 to 7 inches since midnight," the NWS said.

In an updated reported, the service said up to 16 inches of rain had fallen over the past 24 hours, with life-threatening flash flooding leaving numerous roads underwater and prompting multiple water rescues.
