Local wrestlers set for Junior Nationals in Fargo

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - Two local high school wrestlers are preparing to represent Yuma on one of the biggest stages in amateur wrestling.

Matador Wrestling Club athletes Camila Torres and Zoey Bingham qualified through Arizona to compete at the U.S. Marine Corps Junior Nationals in Fargo, North Dakota. The annual tournament brings together many of the nation's top high school wrestlers.

For Torres, the trip to Fargo is another opportunity to compete for a national championship. Having competed at the event before, she has her sights set on winning one of the tournament's top prizes.

"Hopefully the big stop sign," Torres said. "I already have two stop signs and I'm tired of those little ones, I want a big one. And the Fargo finals are on my birthday, so it's like, the cherry on top is to win it."

Torres and Bingham will compete alongside several male wrestlers from Matador Wrestling Club who are also representing Yuma at the national tournament this week.

The Junior Nationals are widely considered one of the premier wrestling events in the country, providing athletes with the opportunity to test themselves against elite competition from across the United States.
