New survey shows Americans’ preferred movie runtimes by generation

(CBS, KYMA) - Movies have been consistently getting longer, but a new survey from Talker Research shows Americans' preferred movie runtimes by generation.

Christopher Nolan's "The Odyssey" opens next week and runs two hours and 52 minutes.

When asked if that's what audiences want, Talker Research's new survey says no.

Only 10% of the 2,000 adults asked said they want movies to be two hours or longer, and just 3% want them to run more than two and half hours.

The magic runtime declines by generation, with Boomers preferring 93 minutes, or an hour and 33 minutes, while Gen Z wants the shortest flicks at just 82 minutes.
